"Already" is a song about an actual high school relationship of mine. I think every songwriter of my generation has one emo song... there comes a day when you wake up and realize that rock star breakups are just far more glamorous than yours. This is mine.
lyrics
It's been a long night, and we both know how it will end.
We've been down this road before. I won't go down it again.
Because the minutes pass so slowly as the hours creep on by.
Isn't it ironic that we both just need some time?
I'm staring at the wall, wishing there could be some other way,
But your eyes are telling all I need to hear.
And the silence is deafening, I can't think and I can't breathe.
I guess I'd better go and get some air.
But I'll just see you standing there, running your fingers through your hair.
I'm missing you already, and you're not even gone.
We both knew that this was coming, shouldn't take us by surprise,
But it's still so hard to close a chapter in our lives.
Now you're moving towards the door, storm clouds rolling on the skies.
And then you're driving off as the rain falls from our eyes.
And the silence is deafening, I can't think and I can't breathe.
I guess I'd better go and get some air.
But I'll just see you standing there, running your fingers through your hair.
I'm missing you already, and you're not even gone.
